The Early Church

I am enjoying writing the stories of the Bible and have come to the early church. I am finding that following the book of Acts is not enough. I have missed key events along the way. One thing I want to do is give as accurate account as I can with the timeline. I know I enrich the stories, with the help of the Spirit to include dialogue, back stories, and what is going on around the people. But I don’t want to leave out elements that are alluded to in scriptures that we don’t have clear pictures of. One of those things is when Paul left for a period of time and was taught through revelation by Jesus. This is born out in the first chapter of Galatians.
I also want to place Paul’s writings in the places they were written. I am currently working on his third missionary journey and discovered that he wrote the two letters to the Thessalonian church during his second journey. I have also discovered that Paul made a trip to Corinth, during his time in Ephesus, to address the churches refusal to accept his letter to them. And there is possibly a third, and maybe fourth, letter written to the Corinthian church.
In short, I need to step back and do so me research. I’m not doing Paul’s letters justice in just mentioning them, or even the ‘high points.’ I want to honor the Lord with my stories.
An analogy I received while contemplating this whole issue is knitting a sweater. I feel like I have dropped some stitches that I need to go back and correct. And, as with an actual sweater, I need to do some unraveling and reknitting before the ‘sweater’ will be made correctly. Please allow me some time to go back and pick up stitches.
I don’t know how long it will take me to construct a functional outline and fill in the gaps. I am committed to several other tasks right now, not the least of which is caring for my husband who is severely disabled. I am also in the process of getting my second book ready for publication. The first is available on Amazon now. I am still waiting for the ebook to be completed.
While you are waiting for me to get my ‘act together’, please go back and look up some of the earlier stories that you may have missed. If you are looking only for the stories, choose “First Person Stories” from the “Categories” menu on the “Daily Bible Study and Questions.” page. You can even use the search box to find stories that you are interested in hearing.
If you want bible study times, I invite you to journey back to the beginning and “walk through scripture” from the beginning. Both the Old and New Testaments are available for your contemplation. I will guarantee that I have NOT exhausted the text of all the ‘jewels’ contained within it, but you will find some interesting ones that I was shown when I was walking along.
I hope to see you soon with more stories that the Spirit gives to me.
Love your sister in Christ
Annette Vincent
