Isaiah 19:1-15 Egypt Melts

Annette Vincent Daily Bible Study & Questions

The Nile river is shrinking/drying up, just as God said it would.

Isaiah addresses Egypt now in prophecy. God says Egypt’s hearts melt within them. One of the parts we see today is the Nile drying up. God said it first!

Egypt was a BIG part of the beginning of the nation of Israel. Initially, it was a safe haven from the famine. Later, it became Israel’s longest running oppressor. We are told that Egypt enslaved Israel for 400 years. They also held onto the Hebrews for dear life, including trying to ensure the Hebrews numbers didn’t grow too large by ordering the death of all male babies.

God pried Israel out of Egypt’s hands with miracles that proved His power to His people. He held Pharaoh’s hands closed until just the right moment too. And God put a long-lasting enmity between Egypt and Israel. God even told them NEVER to return to Egypt again after being set free. But they didn’t listen. Solomon even made alliances with Egypt through marriage.

God is not done with Egypt and repaying them for their treatment of His people. He is also not done discrediting all their gods. While in Egypt, Israel worshiped many of Egypt’s gods. They did the same whenever they started hanging with other nations.

Isaiah’s prophecy speaks of something that is happening today; the drying up of the Nile. It is causing hardship with the people along the Nile and changing the face of Egypt. Agriculture is suffering and is expected to get even worse. People are blaming it on “global warming” but I say it is the hand of God.

God is working out His promises even today. I have no doubt that EVERYTHING He has said about Egypt’s decline WILL come to pass. Egypt’s gods will fail her. God will put ALL false gods to death. His hand has never left the ‘tiller’ of this world and He is doing what it takes to bring His plans to pass. NOT because He is selfish and only cares about His plans but because He LOVES us and wants the BEST for us!

Father God, I’m SO GLAD my life is in Your hands! I know I am safe in Your hands, no matter what comes. I trust You with my future and the future of everyone else, my kids included. I have no idea exactly what Your plan looks like but I KNOW You are working out EVERYTHING in this world EXACTLY as it needs to be.

Isaiah 18:1-7 Cush is Next Isaiah 19:16-25 Blessings!
