Ezekiel 42:1-20 New Temple Pt 5
The bronze man shows Ezekiel two, three storied dining facilities for God’s holy offerings to be eaten by the priests. Then he shows the dimensions of ALL God’s Temple.
I get lost reading all the dimensions. I’m NOT an architect. I’m MORE than happy to have found the videos I have been sharing with you. I don’t know if EVERY measurement is as it is in scripture but then I haven’t been able to plot it all out on my own and have to leave the rendition up to those who have.
One thing I have noticed in all the buildings is that there is PLENTY of space set aside for fellowship. The fellowship I’m speaking of is that done over a meal. God included several structures just for consuming the sacrifices offered. The majority of them are for the priests. I believe the 30 dining rooms along the edge of the outer courtyard were for those who brought the sacrifice or offering to eat the portion that was returned to them.
These times of fellowship are NOT gluttonous parties but reverent times spent together reflecting on God’s blessings and the sacrifices brought. I’m assuming that there are MANY priests serving the people every day, or will be when this Temple is in operation. That would explain the need for so many dining areas to be set aside for the priests. I don’t remember any other Temple having this kind of facility included in its design. I was looking at several renditions of Solomon’s Temple. Some include ‘dining rooms but show no scriptural basis for including them.
The bronze man also takes time to measure the outer dimensions of the wall. This was a perfect square. 500 reeds on each side. I don’t know if Jerusalem itself can accommodate this GRAND structure. We will see later that there is a entire city built around the new Temple, which leads me to believe that it won’t be built in the place where Solomon’s Temple or even Harrod’s Temple stood. If so, there would be no need to contend with the Dome of the Rock that currently occupies the place of the first temples.
Father God, I don’t know if it is my imagination or Your intention, but this Temple feels like a place to meet and enjoy time in Your presence. There aren’t places for the priests to live included, so it’s not a home for them. It is a place to come and share praise, and fellowship. I hope to get to enjoy a meal with You there someday.
